Moodboard For Music Video
-On the one side we have Lucy Star's personality and her inspirations. It includes her musical tastes (Lady GaGa & Florence, from Florence and the Machine.) Also as our video is based on a fashion show and the catwalk we included her fashion tastes (Charity Shops & Vintage clothing.)
- On the other side (and her complete opposite) is the whole 'Wag' personality. It includes celebrities such as Cheryl Cole which ae associated with being fake (from the fake tan to hair extensions etc.)
The moodboard is to put across our idea of Lucy Star being an opposite to what other people are trying to make themselves to be in society. The whole idea shows Lucy Star as her own person and being an individual.

Simlilar Music: Natalie Cole Wild Women Do
When performing the song 'Wild Women Do' Natalie Cole is shown to be a strong and independent woman. She drive's her own car and is dressed to impress in smart clothing. The other girls playing the instruments are shown to be dressed in skimpy clothing, which reflects one of Andrew Goodwin's theories that voyeurism is used to attract viewers to the video particularly male's who are viewing women in a voyeuristic way. Some of the lyrics also portray the image of independence such as, 'You tell me you want a woman who's as simple as a flower.
Well if you want me to act like that, You'd better pay me by the hour'. Showing to the audience the message she is trying to get across that she is not like all those other women, she works and she doesn't want to be a clone of everyone else. Also when saying 'Wild Women Do and they don't regret it' shows she doesn't care what other people think. They way she also looks into the camera and her actions, aren't aggressive but show that she can stand up for herself and isn't scared to speak her mind. The song was also used in the credit for 'Pretty Woman' which is a romantic comedy that shows Julia Robert's playing Vivian Ward who is a prostitute. I think this song shows in independence, and works with this film, as it shows a woman will always try and support herself even if it means like the story of 'Pretty Woman'.

Digipaks.
Digipaks are made usually from paper or cardboard. They consist of plastics holders which are capaple of holding up to a CD and a DVD inside. The packaging is used for CD singles being released, special CD edition packs or holding a CD and DVD all in one package.
It grew popular in the early 2000's with artists and producers as the normal jewel case would crack easier than a digipak case.
AGI (The registered owners) have now created the digipak i-create. It is a web supported concept that is aimed at the download, music, photo and creative markets. One of the most recent albums having a digipak only release is 'Teenage Dream' by Katy Perry.
Cyndi Lauper - Girl's Just Wanna Have Fun Lyrics.
My mother says "When you gonna live your life right?"
Oh,mother,dear,
We're not the fortunate ones,
And girls,
They wanna have fu-un.
Oh,girls,
Just wanna have fun.
The phone rings in the middle of the night,
My father yells "What you gonna do with your life?"
Oh,daddy,dear,
You know you're still number one,
But girls,
They wanna have fu-un,
Oh,girls,just wanna have
That's all they really want.....
Some fun....
When the working day is done,
Oh,girls,
They wanna have fu-un,
Oh,girls,
Just wanna have fun....
Girls,
They want,
Wanna have fun.
Girls,
Wanna have
Some boys take a beautiful girl,
And hide her away from the rest of the world.
I wanna be the one to walk in the sun.
Oh,girls,
They wanna have fu-un.
Oh,girls,
Just wanna have
That's all they really want.....
Some fun....
When the working day is done,
Oh,girls,
They wanna have fu-un.
Oh,girls,
Just wanna have fun...
Girls,
They want,
Wanna have fun.
Girls,
Wanna have.
They just wanna,
They just wanna.....
They just wanna,
(Oh....)
They just wanna.....
(Girls just wanna have fun...)
Oh...
Girls just wanna have fu-un...
They just wanna,
They just wanna....
They just wanna,
They just wanna....
(Oh...)
They just wanna...
(They just wanna have fun...)
Girls just wanna have fu-un...
When the workin',
When the working day is done.
Oh,when the working day is done,
Oh,girls...
Girls,
Just wanna have fu-un...
They just wanna,
They just wanna....
They just wanna,
They just wanna have fun...
Girls just wanna have fu-un..
They just wanna,
They just wanna....
They just wanna,
They just wanna....
(Have fun..)
They just wanna,
(Girls wanna have fun)
They just wanna....
Oh,girls...
(Wanna have fun....)
Girls just wanna have fu-un.
When the workin',
When the working day is done.

This will create a clear format for our music video, also making it easier on the day of filming, and the days running up to it, as it is giving us a clear plan and idea to run with. Although parts can be changed when we think it will benefit the video, this storyboard will act as our base to build upon.

Similar Music: Madonna Material Girl
Material Girl by Madonna was released on January 30th 1985 by Sire records. At the beginning we are shown two men watching her performing on a cinema screen, criticising how big of a star she is. This shows the aspect of men looking at women, and looking at their bodies, like she is something to be looked upon. Again, we see another man looking in on a woman, who is on the phone- the colours show alot of pink and red, conotating love and maybe danger. The connotation of danger could be used in these scene, as the man has obviously been let down by the female, showing his pain. When it opens out onto Madonna performing the song, The pink and red again plays a big part part again, she is acting flirty and feminine, with a group of men surrounding her, and playing along with her flirtiness. She plays along with each of these men for their 'material possesions' which shows the danger as she goes along of hurting them, as she goes from one man to another (red connotations.) At the end, showing Madonna in white and with white flowers, shows although she likes her material possesions, deep down the simpler things make her most happiest and content (White - pure, real.) The whole image for the video was taken from Marilyn Monroe's performance in 'Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend'.

We thought this would be suitable because our artist 'Lucy Star' is such an eccentric and unique character that we wanted to show the contrast between her and what is expected of us in society today.

CASE STUDY 2: Madonna..
In 1982 Madonna released the single 'Everybody' through Sire Records. Directed by Ed Steinberg.
This was her first release and they had a budget of $1500 to produce the video.
In 1982 Madonna's style consisted of; Baggy trousers, boyish clothes and hair, vampish make-up, glamorous earrings (This may of been a hint of the glamour that Madonna was going to be wearing the future, hint of what was to come?) and she was unpolished, not the look of a pop star. - As a new and upcoming artist the look that she portrayed was copied by her audience.
In 1984 'Like A Virgin' was released again through Sire records. Directed by Mary Lambert.
This was a very different type of look which consisted of a fairy-tale/romantic look, it showed her in a romantic location (Venice). By now her iconic 80's look was an established image, this video release was the start of her showing the two sides to herself as an artist, the girly/pretty/romantic look and the fierce/independent look.
In 1989 was the release of 'Like A Prayer' again by Sire Records, and also directed by Mary Lambert.
This video was her first to become quite controversial as it featured burning crosses, which was offensive to many of the audience.
Though many connotations could be taken from the video as in one shot features a glow behind her, which can be seen as angelic. She also comes across quite feminine and sexy in the video in what she's wearing - sex appeal.
1991 was the release of 'Vouge' through Sire records. This time directed by David Fincher.
It was Madonna's 8th US number one and at this time Madonna had quite a glamorous look, forming a Marilyn Monroe style. In this video she contradicted the norm by being a female singer surrounded by male models.
In 1992 was the release of 'Erotica' through Maverick (Which Madonna had set up as her own label) This was directed by Fabien Baron - A fashion photographer. It included dirty/grainy images, which was aired 3 times on MTV before being banned.
1996 was the release of ' Evita - You must love me' - this was the most successful film she was in, it was at a time where she was becoming age appropriate (approaching 40 and becoming a mum). This was a classier and revamped look for her.
1998 was the release of 'Ray Of Light' - Maverick. Directed by Jonas Akerland (Who also directed Beyonce & Lady GaGa's telephone single). It debuted at number 2 in the US. In the video she had long hair, quite hippyish, wearing a denim on denim look, which was big at the time and looked like a cowboy - showing she was back to her American roots.
In 2001 'What it feels like for a girl' was released through Maverick, and directed by then husband at the time Guy Ritchie. This was he 2nd time that her video was banned on MTV and VH1 due to its scene of murder by car.
2002 - 'Die Another Day' Showed references to history of Bond films.
2005 - 'Hung Up' Released through Maverick , directed by Johan Renck, this tried to show her younger image, with younger backing dancers and use of street dance , which was popular at the time (She was trying to keep with the times).
2008 - '4 Minutes' Released through Maverick - Featuring popular, young artists (Modern).

CASE STUDY 1: Rihanna..
From watching the 'Pon De Replay' and her new single for 2010 'Only girl (In the world)' I saw one change straightaway which shows how her music has changed to suit the times she is producing it for (keeping up to date.) In the Pon De Replay video her body is constantly on show, and men are always watching her as an object. But with the new video she's shown she to be fierce and idependent - which is a thing to be proud of today and in 2010. It shows how she has grown up, and the lyrics 'I'll make you feel like a man... Only girl in the world' is telling a man why she is the right girl for them, that she is different and unique. This shows a change not only in her music and video choice, but also a new attitude.
