Music Video Codes and Conventions;

After researching into how music video's are constructed, there are two categories that the construction is separated into:
- Technical
How technology and equipment is used
The different camera shots (Tracking, crane shots, tilting, panning and close ups that are used a lot on performance video's) and the style of editing (Split screens and cuts)
How sound can be used (Diegetic and Non-diegetic)
- Symbolic
How meaning is created (Mise-en-scene such as; props, they way the artist acts (their performance, costume and location.)

Different styles of music video's can include; Animation, performance by a band/artist and a storyline that the audience follow (narrative.) Some even include a mixture of a performance and a narrative matching alongside one another, cutting in between the two.

Most video's have typical traits to match their genre. For example Pop music is usually shown with bright colours and lights, a fun and bubbly atmosphere and usually portray an image of innocence. Hip Hop/R'n'B usually shows women in a voyueristic way (Andrew Goodwin.)
With our artist I think we want to be putting across a bright and care-free attitude to the video, to show the personality of Lucy Star.
