Journal 28th November 2010

We are now at the time of the project where we are have planned and started to film. Our Charity shop scene has come across as quite difficult as it's hard to find a charity shop that we let us film what we want to. After trying to come up with alternative idea's for this scene, I came up with the idea of filming in the school's costume cupboard that is used for drama. It has a range of different styles of clothes used in all different school productions. We can dress the room so that we can still give it the same attraction a theme that we wanted to show of a carefree environment. It was also easy to get permission to use the room and we can also easily do re-shoots of the scene when necessary.
In the week we also went to Bexleyheath to get all the costumes and equipment that we need. We got all clone costumes, and have agreed that the model's will wear their own clothes when walking it in their own style, to save us time and money on deciding on more costumes. We also got tinsel and spray paint to build the cloning machine.

Journal 23rd Novemeber 2010

Today we concentrated on our storyboard, realising that we needed to provide more shots and break down or idea so we are presenting it more clearly. This also needs to be broken down into several more shots as we need to include every different frame we are going to include and produce in the production of the music video.

Linking Our Idea to Andrew Goodwin;

A criticism of our pitch was that we should link our idea to the music video theory by Andrew Goodwin.
1) "Music video's demonstrate genre characteristics." The first setting of our video is in a Charity shop, this shows the type of shops that Lucy Star prefers and would typically shop in. The second shows her creating havoc on the catwalk by rebelling against the 'clones'. This shows that she is against people copying one another and following the crowd of mainstream fashion, showing her with a care-free personality and not worrying what other think of her.

2) "There is a relationship between lyrics and visuals." In the charity shop and on the catwalk shows Lucy Star doing what she wants to do, just enjoying herself and having an enjoyable time, "Girl's Just Want To Have Fun."

Journal 18th November 2010

Today we looked more into Digipak designs and the way they are constructed. In every group each person designed a separate design in how they wanted their artist to be viewed. It was interesting to see how the case of the Digipak goes together, and I enjoyed creating the design from scratch. I now look forward to taking photographs of our artist on the shoot and putting the Digipak together on the computer, with text and image.

Feedback From Pitch 11/11/10

Our group pitched to the class today with the powerpoint previously posted on my blog. Below are parts that worked, didn't work and just suggestions that the class made. Each group had a sheet to write feedback on and we have collected it and wrote it below;

Parts the class thought were good/appropriate;
-Characters well planned
-2 easy locations
-Shows Lucy’s identity
-The changing room scene
-Song matches her characterises
-Clever idea about cloning machine
-80’s style for artist

Things they think we should develop or change;
-Confusing storyboard (Too simple)
-Think about the way you have used media language and link to Goodwin’s theory
-Need to find charity shop
-How are you doing the catwalk
-How would you film in the charity shop

Elements they think need more work on;
-Do you have permission for a charity shop
-How will the catwalk be shot and made

Moodboard Animato

This is our storyboard that we drew out roughly to base our idea on. A critcism when we pitched our idea was that the storyboard was confusing. I think this is because the drawings are quite simple and basic. When our idea is more clear and we've planned furter, we may build on top of the storyboard just to make it more clear to anyone looking at it. The basic outline is; Lucy Star in the charity shop changing room, her mum rings her - Leads into catwalk show.

This was our pitch for the music video which we presented to the class. Our only criticism was to show how our video would link with Andrew Goodwin's Music Video Analysis.

Moodboard For Music Video

This is the moodboard we created to show our music video idea's. It includes the two opposites in which we are basing our music video on.
-On the one side we have Lucy Star's personality and her inspirations. It includes her musical tastes (Lady GaGa & Florence, from Florence and the Machine.) Also as our video is based on a fashion show and the catwalk we included her fashion tastes (Charity Shops & Vintage clothing.)
- On the other side (and her complete opposite) is the whole 'Wag' personality. It includes celebrities such as Cheryl Cole which ae associated with being fake (from the fake tan to hair extensions etc.)
The moodboard is to put across our idea of Lucy Star being an opposite to what other people are trying to make themselves to be in society. The whole idea shows Lucy Star as her own person and being an individual.
